Fields of Fun
The LCPS Sports Department is dedicated to promoting sports participation for all students from ECD A to Grade 7. We foster a love for physical activity through inclusive programs and competitive opportunities. Students can engage in major sporting events across various disciplines, including cricket, tennis, swimming, athletics, cross-country, rugby, hockey, netball, and soccer, particularly for seniors.
Our notable annual events include the LCPS Invitational Cross Country Meet, Golden League Athletics Competitions, McCartney Colts Rugby and Fillies Hockey Festival, and the B’s Festival for boys’ rugby and girls’ hockey. Additionally, we host the Invitational LCPS 7’s Rugby and Indoor Hockey Festival for U13s and the LCPS Districts Swimming Gala, ensuring a vibrant sporting atmosphere at LCPS. Join us in fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for sports!
- Athletics: Our athletics program encourages all pupils to participate, from the Golden League Inter-House Athletics to District Athletics events. We celebrate each student’s achievements and foster a spirit of healthy competition.
- Cross Country: Pupils are motivated to join inter-school cross country meets, attending major invitationals throughout the year to build endurance and resilience.
- Tennis: Offered in the 1st and 2nd terms, tennis caters to all our girls, with teams ranging from Fillies A, B, and C for juniors to 1st and 2nd teams for seniors. Our players actively participate in inter-school fixtures and championships.
- Swimming: With two swimming pools, including a 25-meter facility, we encourage swimming in the 1st and 3rd terms. Pupils take part in inter-house and inter-school galas, as well as district and national championships.
- Cricket: We field four cricket teams: Colts A and B for juniors, and 1st and 2nd teams for seniors. Our cricketers participate in inter-school events and tournaments throughout the season.
- Hockey: All pupils are introduced to both field and indoor hockey in the 2nd term. We proudly host events such as the Colts Hockey Festival, Fillies Hockey Festival, and 7’s Indoor Hockey tournaments annually.
- Rugby: A favourite among our boys, rugby is played in the second term. We host an interschool festival each year for Colts A and B, as well as 1st and 2nd teams, fostering competitive spirit and teamwork.
- Netball: Played by girls in the second term, we host the Fillies A tournament at home each year, promoting skill development and sportsmanship.
Equestrian Excellence
At Lomagundi College Schools, we pride ourselves on offering a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. Established in the third term of 2013, our Equestrian Centre has become a pivotal part of our school’s extracurricular activities, providing students with a unique opportunity to engage in horse riding lessons once or twice a week.
The Lomagundi College Equestrian Centre stands as a beacon for aspiring riders and horse lovers alike. With experienced instructors who are committed to fostering a love for all things equestrian, the centre offers something for everyone, whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned rider.
One of the key aspects that sets our Equestrian Centre apart is its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. The centre caters to students of all ages and skill levels, providing a safe and supportive environment for beginners to take their first steps into the world of horse riding, while advanced riders can refine their skills.
At the heart of the Equestrian Centre are knowledgeable instructors who are passionate about teaching. They possess not only riding skills but also an understanding of horse behaviour, grooming, and care. This expertise allows them to impart valuable lessons that go beyond simply riding. Students learn about horsemanship, responsibility, and the importance of building a strong bond with their equine partners.
The Equestrian Centre provides a beautiful and rustic setting for riders to hone their skills in a natural environment. Through participation in equestrian activities, students develop valuable life skills such as discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Handling horses requires patience and empathy, helping riders develop a strong sense of responsibility.
As part of our school community, the Equestrian Centre fosters friendships among pupils, parents, and staff. Internal events, including open days and competitions, help to strengthen these bonds and create a sense of belonging for the riders. By being part of the Lomagundi College family, our students can enjoy the benefits of equestrian activities while being supported by our wider school community.
